Parish and Town Council liaison meeting
Babergh and Mid Suffolk Councils held a liaison meeting on the 27th July in the Stevenson Centre at Great Cornard. The chair of Stutton Parish Council attended and here are some highlights.

Highlights
We still have the hiatus and uncertainty about local government review because of a legal challenge of the judicial review of the decision to create three unitary authorities rather than one covering all of Suffolk. Officials gave reassurance that ongoing work such as on the Babergh and Mid Suffolk Joint Local Plan is designed to be able to be divided up, whatever the final outcome.
New recycling system acknowledged as a huge logistical challenge but a success story for Babergh and mid Suffolk who have not seen the problems experienced in other parts of Suffolk.
Planning – Scoping consultation on the next Joint Local Plan formally concluded on 31st July 26. It is expected that the new Strategic Housing and Economic Land Availability Assesment SHELAA should be published by end of September 26 when we will be able to see the results of the first assessment of the 10 sites in the Stutton Parish which have surfaced in the last two “call for sites” exercises. Although this does not start official consultation (which will be when the first draft of the Joint Local Plan is published in Jan – Feb 27) there is nothing to stop any Parish from making an addendum to their Neighbourhood Development Plan (NDP)at any time. Stutton will be reviewing its NDP over the next few months.
