Road closure at Royal Hospital School 28 September 2026 for 4 weeks
Anglian Water is working at the Royal Hospital School from 21 September to replace the private mains and connect the school houses to the new mains. During the first week they will be bringing in supplies and equipment and establishing their work site. The actual work is expected to start on the 28th September. This will require the closure of the B1080 for up to 4 weeks (between the Drift and the central horseshoe of the RHS), after which the works will continue, with the road fully open but with traffic lights in place, until 20 November.
The initial work will involve the drilling of 4 large holes on one side of the road by a large mobile drilling rig, which will at times require the full width of the road to operate to lay the pipe. The road is not wide enough for even a single lane of traffic as the Anglian Water workers need to be kept safe.
This will be a “hard closure” during the working day (approximately 8am – 4pm) from 28 September. There will be ‘gatekeepers’ at either end, who will allow access to residents of the school houses as appropriate.
The RHS has a system and route in place for pupil drop-off and pick-up. This is not open to other road users for safety reasons.
Whilst it is SUBJECT TO PROGRESS OF THE WORK AND NOT GUARANTEED the road may be passable outside working hours (approximately 4pm – 8am), with excavations fenced off and safe.
One pavement will be open throughout for pedestrians and cyclists who should dismount.
Stutton Parish Council will remain in contact with the Anglian Water Project Manager and will update this Website under the news section on a regular basis. PLEASE VISIT THIS WEBSITE AGAIN FOR THE LATEST UPDATE
